Paris FC shared the points with Olympique Lyonnais in a goalless draw (0-0) on Saturday at the Stade Charléty. The result sees the Parisian club hold onto fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings with eight points from four games, just two points behind leaders Monaco.
A tactically interesting game
Lyon midfielder Tyler Morton analysed the tight contest. "It was a difficult match for OL at Paris FC (0-0)," he said. The player, who knows his manager Liam Rosenior well from their time together at Hull City, added that the game was tactically interesting, with systems that cancelled each other out.
The Parisian context
For Paris FC, this solid point adds to a run of encouraging performances. Their record from the last five matches is two wins, two draws and one defeat. Their last victory was a spectacular 3-2 win at Marseille, powered by a Lassine Sinayoko hat-trick. The upcoming fixtures schedule is busy, starting with a home game against Strasbourg, currently in sixth, on September 19.
The state of the squad
The team will have to cope with several absences for that clash, however. Emmanuel Mbemba, Nhoa Sangui, Otávio and Thibault De Smet are currently sidelined, as confirmed by the injuries list. These absences will weigh on the manager's tactical choices to maintain a solid defence, which has conceded only two league goals this season. The squad composition will therefore be under close scrutiny.
Despite taking a point, Morton stressed the need to keep improving. "We still have a lot to prove," he stated, noting that Lyon, also unbeaten with eight points, started their season early for the Champions League preliminary rounds. Paris FC, for its part, can be satisfied with holding such an opponent to a draw and now turns its focus to preparing for the match against Strasbourg.
